Hairballs

Cat constipation is frequently induced by consuming hair. Anybody who has been around felines knows they consume a good deal of their day grooming. A cat's tongue possesses little barbs on it which feel comparable to sandpaper and such barbs pluck on loose hair that is then consumed. All this hair accumulates in the intestines and form hairballs.

Felines generally spit up their hairballs or pass them in their feceses; but hairballs left over in the intestines are the most frequent cause of constipation. In a few grave cases, a vet has had to take out these compact balls of hair by surgical procedure or other means so to help the affected cat.
Signals your feline could be experiencing a problem with hairballs lodged in their intestines are many. Your feline might have a hacking, dry cough, a low appetite, regurgitate after eating, display 'dry heaves', build up a brittle or dull coat, undergo a sudden decrease in weight, or begin chewing on grass for no manifest reason.
